What is artificial leather?

Nowadays people are buying more and more artificial leather, imitation leather or fake leather. However, these are different words for the same thing. There is still often a lack of clarity about the difference between genuine and artificial leather. Artificial leather consists of a layer of textile and a layer of plastic. A drawing or structure that resembles leather is then applied to the plastic. Faux leather is not made from animal skin. On the other hand, real leather is made from animal skin. Faux leather is considered a cheap, animal-friendly alternative to genuine leather and it is also increasingly used in interiors.

What different types of artificial leather are there?
